About W-O-W Women Leaders Walking The Great Walls Of The World Project Led By Hazleen, Renata, Kiran, Julia & DJ We are a group of women leaders representing multiple nationalities and ethnicities, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Punjabi, Brazilian, Italian, and Filipino. Originated in Singapore, our diverse group is united by a shared purpose to promote understanding, inclusion and kindness in our communities, and over the years we have helped many people to develop a strong sense of belonging and of achievement through mountain trekking, long-distance endurance walks, cycling, charity and community events. Inspired by the pillars of multiracialism and interfaith alliance that have shaped modern Singapore, our group will embark on two major initiatives: (1) “Break down walls that divide Humanity”. We aim to walk the Great Walls of the World, across different continents including the Middle East, Asia/Australasia, Americas, and Europe. The first walk will take place in Singapore on Saturday 20th of January 2024 covering a remarkable distance of 66km which will be completed in a stretch, and will be named Singapore’s Great Walk of Harmony. Despite not having a wall itself, Singapore will be the first country of this initiative for the principles of multiculturalism and harmony it upholds. (2) “Build up bridges on our shared Humanity”. By cycling across 2 countries linked by bridges, we aim to highlight the importance of cooperating and focusing on what makes us the same regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. Through our diverse backgrounds, the vision of Singapore’s founding father the late Lee Kuan Yew, and our Prime Minister’s call for unity in diversity, we are dedicated to promoting understanding and tolerance and are committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives and to inspiring others to do the same. This will be a 3-year project and will culminate in the creation of a book, children’s story book, and a short film.
